GOP Businessman Frank Stalzer Officially Enters the Race for U.S. Congress.
Huntington, NY: Businessman Frank Stalzer formally announced his candidacy as a Republican for U.S. Congress and pledged to the voters of the Second Congressional District on Long Island that he will work day and night to help move our country toward growth, prosperity and opportunity for all Americans.
“After extensive discussions with my family, friends, community and political leaders, I’ve decided to challenge incumbent Steve Israel in November’s election. I’m a businessman, not a professional politician. I’ve spent the past 25 years of my life working in private industry, helping businesses grow, helping hardworking people develop their skills and helping to create opportunities for future leaders. I’ve seen the effects that high taxes and overregulation have on working families and businesses and I plan to bring some common sense back to our government in Washington.”
Stalzer said he considers himself a pro-growth conservative Republican and believes new leadership in Washington is necessary to get our economy moving in the right direction.
“I believe our representatives should deliver results for their districts and for our country. The professional politicians will tell you they are running this year on a platform of ‘change.’ Well I think it’s amazing that the people who brought us high taxes, wasteful spending, a bloated bureaucracy, escalating energy prices and a flawed policy for handling illegal immigration, now want us to believe they can change the problems they’ve created.”
Stalzer stated that he believes pro-growth economic policies, lower taxes and fiscal restraint will help us achieve economic revitalization and stated that we must put an end to wasteful government spending. “We don’t have a problem on the revenue side of the equation down in Washington but we do have a huge problem on the spending side. In addition to Congress’ appetite for uncontrolled entitlement spending, the ongoing system of earmarks and “pork barrel” spending has evolved into a flawed system of abusing taxpayer money and must be stopped now.”
Stalzer said that the $1.4T fiscal 2008 budget contains over 12,900 earmarks, worth $18.3B. “That’s $18.3B of taxpayer money that was spent without hearings or debates, without any oversight or public discussion of how that money is to be spent and in many cases, no follow-up to see what is actually done with the money.”
The candidate says that he plans to hold members of Congress accountable for this abuse of taxpayer money and will work with other fiscal-conservatives in Congress to end this type of reckless spending. Stalzer said he favors making the Bush Tax Cuts permanent, cutting the capital gains tax, permanent elimination of the estate tax and replacing our current income tax system with a Flat Tax.
“Congress’ appetite to continuously tax and spend has taken its toll on American workers. I will fight to reduce the tax burden on all Americans and bring some common sense initiatives to Washington so that all Americans can keep more of their hard earned money.”
Stalzer also plans to attack what he calls a flawed immigration policy. “I’m running for Congress because I believe we’re a country of immigrants and should continue to be a land of opportunity for people who are willing to come here legally and obey our laws”, Stalzer commented. He said he would fight to secure our borders, enforce the immigration laws that are currently on the books and is not willing to grant amnesty to people who have come to America illegally. Stalzer firmly believes in the words written in the Declaration of Independence by our founding fathers...that all men are created equal and they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
“We must continue to fight to protect the human rights of all of our people, every race, color and creed...born and unborn. The Right to Life is one of the most fundamental rights of our land and I will be a strong advocate of pro-life, pro-family, pro-people initiatives in Congress, “ said Stalzer.
Stalzer noted that his son, Frank Jr, served two tours of duty in Iraq with the U.S. Army 4th Infantry Division and stated that he clearly understands the sacrifice that our veterans have made for our country during this time and in previous wars and military conflicts.
“I am extremely supportive of our veterans and what they have done to keep our country safe from those that wish to do us harm. We must never forget their service to our country and must work hard to ensure that they get the benefits, support and compassion from our government and from the people of our country.”
Stalzer said he would also fight for term limits for elected officials, legal reform, making health care portable and more affordable for all Americans and for Educational Vouchers. “I am very proud to have the nomination of the Republican Party and believe it is an honor to run for Congress in this, the greatest country in the world. My pledge to the American people is that I will never waiver from my mission to bring Republican-Conservative ideas, initiatives, principles and values to the table in Washington and I will fight with all my might to help deliver results for each and every American. I believe in the American dream...and believe it is alive and well and living in the hearts, minds and souls of every American.” Stalzer concluded by saying that he’s optimistic about the future of our country and still believes that our country’s best days still lie ahead. “I still believe in the words of President Ronald Reagan when he called America... that shining city on a hill. As your Congressman, I will work non-stop to keep that light burning brightly for all Americans.”
